Membership

 

 


Free membership is available to all residents and ratepayers of Papakura and Franklin Districts and Waitakere City,  with (original) ID and proof of address. For example you can use the following as proof of address.

   Current Phone account 
   Current Power account 
   Current Rates or Water account 
   Current Bank Statement 

All young people 17 years and under can join the library free of charge, no matter where they live and must have a parent or guardian as guarantor.

Adult membership starts at age 18 years

From July 1 2009 an annual subscription will be charged to anyone 18  years and over who lives outside the Papakura and Franklin Districts and Waitakere City areas.. Subscription rates are:

   Adult 12 months  $80.00
   Adult 06 months  $50.00
   Adult 03 months  $25.00
   Student 18 years and over 12 months $40.00
   Student 18 years and over 06 months $25.00
   Student 18 years and over 03 months $12.50

Books and magazines can be renewed once for a period of 28 days providing there is no waiting list..
Rental items can be renewed on payment of further rental charge at the issues desk providing there is no waiting list.

HOUSEBOUND DELIVERY 

Fortnightly delivery to those unable to leave their homes to come to the library to choose their own books.  Please ring 978 2665 or ask at the library help desk for more information.

The library has several experienced family researchers on the staff to help you in this area.

 REFERENCE AND INFORMATION SERVICES 

The library has a range of reference material, including atlases, dictionaries, directories, encyclopedias and reference books on specific subjects. The library receives newspapers from the main centres around New Zealand.  EPIC resources are available online to members.  You need a borrower card to access the EPIC databases. 

INTER-LIBRARY LOAN

Some books not held at The Sir Edmund Hillary Library can be requested from National Library and other libraries within New Zealand. There may be a charge. Please enquire at the Help Desk. 

ADULT LITERACY COLLECTION  and ESOL

The library has a collection of books suitable for those adults learning to read or for those where English is their second language. 

LISTENING POST 

You can listen to Audio books or music on CD before you borrow or just come and relax for a bit with your favourite music or story. Enquire at the Help Desk.

SHEET MUSIC

There is a selection of sheet music, mostly for piano which may be borrowed.
